Hoops4Hope Community Event

September 29, 2019

This year at Lincoln High School, the San Diego Workforce Partnership, RISE San Diego, and CONNECTING Hope partnered to host the first ever Hoops4Hope event.

Hoops4Hope is a community basketball tournament focused on building and strengthening community relations with young adults and City of San Diego entities, while also creating broader awareness of the resources that exist for young adults and families.

All proceeds from ticket sales and sponsorship went directly to CONNECTING Hope, so the organization can continue their grass-roots work and provide career training and opportunities for young African American and Latino men in Southeastern San Diego.

The day consisted of performing arts, competitive basketball, great food and building community connections.

Special thanks to the eight teams that participated and our sponsors:

  • City College's Umoja Program

  • San Diego Police Department

  • Lincoln High School Alumni

  • San Diego Fire Department

  • RISE San Diego

  • San Diego Workforce Partnership

  • Southeast Tigers

  • Southeast Young Ballerz

Congratulations to City College's Umoja program for winning the first annual Hoops4Hope basketball tournament!
